Home maintenance/repair contractor Paul Kruse describes himself as “… the dirty joke king who couldn’t say a sentence without cursing!” While driving his truck around St. Louis he began listening to Bott Radio Network-owned AM 1320.
At one point he heard bible teacher J. Vernon McGee tell listening truck drivers to “… pull your truck off the road …” to seek the Lord. Paul wondered how J. Vernon knew about him! But he pulled his truck over … and. “on the spot” prayed to receive Christ into his life!
Life now has wonderfully changed – but not become easier — for Paul Kruse. He has found joy, meaning, and fulfillment in life.
· For years now he began and continues to oversee a Sunday morning service for truckers at a big truck stop just west of St. Louis on I-70 at Foristell, MO. Any Sunday morning average 10 – 30 truckers can begin the day with a time of seeking and honoring Jesus Christ in a designated room of the truck stop. Cumulatively more than 6,000 truckers have taken part.
· He discovered that there was no organized means in that area to care for homeless men who gravitated there, learning that some were sleeping in the woods behind the truck stop. Out of the compassion of Paul and his supportive wife Lana, they began to help in very practical ways. They began Frist Step Back Home (www.firststepbackhome.net), now a great 501 © (3) ministry for the poor and homeless in the region.
First Step Back Home is fully operational to this day and has helped thousands of men, women, and children “get back on their feet” with food, shelter, jobs and other means of care. In the process thousands have found independence and productivity … through the workings of God and the honoring of Jesus … done through the great work of First Step Back Home!
