Re the Tim Tebow ad during the Super Bowl, CWA CEO provides insights; finds humor in the protesters
Penny Nance is the Chief Executive Officer of Concerned Women for America, “…the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization. CWA provided a press release just prior to the 2010 Super Bowl regarding the anticipated brief television ad to be shown during the game of Heisman Trophey winner Tim Tebow and his missionary mother.  Penny Nance said: In the 3 ½ years I advised FCC [Federal Communications Commission] Chairman Kevin Martin on indecency issues I can’t recall one time that NOW [National Organization for Women] ever spoke out about sexually graphic or misogynistic content on CBS.  I find it laughable that NOW has a problem with Tim Tebow sharing his own story…”

The background: Tim Tebow has emerged as a great collegiate football player and role model to millions. During a medically troubled pregnancy, his mother was advised to abort.  She didn’t.  The result?  Tim Tebow, Heisman Trophey winner, quarterback of the University of Florida Gators, always one of the top teams in the country when he was the team’s quarterback.  When Focus on the Family found the financing, Tim and his mother were recorded for what is assumed to be a very family friendly, preciousness-of-life statement made for television and the Super Bowl audience, which hardly anyone has seen, including the critics.  The National Organization for Women (NOW) and others have brought pressure on CBS (who will televise the game) to cancel the ad.  We should all thank the critics, for they have called great attention to the Tim Tebow message and will only increase its viewing…by millions.

Julie Loos/Fern Nichols; www.momsintouch.org group praying for 20,000 schools their children attend

Fern Nichols, President and Founder, and Julie Loos, Missouri State Coordinator, of Moms in Touch (www.MomsInTouch.org) discuss this great movement wherein moms gather weekly to pray for their children and the schools they attend.  Moms in Touch was birthed with Fern Nichols’ burden to meet and pray with other moms whose children also attended her son’s new school.  From this “mustard seed” beginning, an international prayer movement was launched, resulting in more than 20,000 groups currently meeting worldwide! The MITI website tells how and where a mom can begin or join a Moms in Touch prayer group for her children’s school.  – Julie and Fern also provide information regarding the Arise! Cry Out! Moms in Touch praise, prayer and inspiration event in San Diego, October 9 – 10, 2009. Selected portions of that prayer time will be recorded and a DVD of it sent to hundreds of churches and other locations for a worldwide day of extraordinary prayer for children and schools on Saturday, November 14, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM in each location.  In the interview Fern Nichols and Julie Loos issue an appeal for additional churches and gathering places to be added to the Arise!  Cry Out!  Day of Extraordinary Prayer! Emily Nienhuis; single, adopted 4 minority girls; offers heart, love & help re foster care, adoption

Emily Nienhuis’ lifestyle reflects her heart.  Though single and open to marriage, she did not wait for a husband to love and adopt four minority girls.  She points to information found at www.fosteringfaithfulfamilies.org as being enlightening in such a consideration.  Heart, commitment, and God’s will are primary, but she also notes that financial support is provided in foster care and adoption.  Though this may be read throughout the year, see Emily’s heart comments below about a 4-hour gathering (other such opportunities are available from time to time) to help provide “forever” homes for children in foster care:

“HOPE FOR KIDS...Has the Lord been tugging at your heart to adopt a foster child? Over 10,000 children in Missouri are in the foster care system. Over 1400 of these kids want a “forever” family.  Fostering Faithful Families has partnered with agencies and local churches to help find permanent, nurturing families for these children.  For more information about becoming a foster or adoptive parent, join us at HOPE FOR KIDS, Saturday, May 8, 2010 at The Journey, Tower Grove campus, in St. Louis, MO.  10am -2pm  Speakers from 10am-noon, information tables from noon-2pm.  REGISTER NOW AT www.fosteringfaithfulfamilies.org.”

As Emily points out, several agencies – available throughout and following the process -- are partnering in offering help and encouragement for foster care and adoption of children yearning to be included in a loving and supportive home.

Jennifer O’Neill, World famous Actress, Model, and Author

In a humorous beginning of the interview, Jennifer O’Neill was asked “ … a burning question: What is it like to costar with John Wayne?” For that is what she did at age 21 in the movie Rio Lobo when “Duke” Wayne was winding down her career. www.jenniferoneill.com reveals that she had experienced all the fame one could hope for in a lifetime, and yet there was “a hole in my heart.” She wasn’t happy. Appearing on the cover of many major magazines and being a famous and beautiful actress and movie star proved not to be the answer to life. Her conversion to Jesus in her late 30’s gave birth to Jennifer O’Neill Ministries. The delightful interview included Mark Dungan (President and CEO, ThriVe St Louis -- Pregnancy Resource Centers -- Best Choice SM Sexual Integrity Program) was conducted to invite the listeners to the “ThriVe Gala,” wherein Jenifer O’Neill tells her story as the event’s inspirational speaker. Judy Redlich, blind, leads St. Louis Joni & Friends; helps startup ministries to the disabled

Judy Redlich has remarkably transformed her disability of personal blindness into a tool for ministry. As Director of Joni and Friends Gateway in St. Louis (www.joniandfriends.org/st-louis), she provides great focus on ministry being fully extended to the disabled. Judy is a living and walking testimony – usually with her husband Ray and “Seeing Eye” dog Juno beside her – of the vital role that disabled persons can play in today’s world. She was seen on Channel 24 in St. Louis for many years. In this radio conversation Judy describes a recent mission trip for Joni and Friends’ “Wheels for the World” into four cities in Mexico. They provided 600 refurbished wheelchairs to needy people … in Jesus Name … as Judy led meetings on how churches can have ministries to the disabled. This year’s outreach also included her leading a medical team to provide physical therapy to disabled persons who had never been treated before. Through Joni and Friends Gateway, Judy Redlich provides regular training meetings for churches who want to begin a disability ministry to disabled persons and their families or who already have one in place. She can be contacted at her office at (314) 644-6908 or by email at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it At the radio conclusion, Judy adds humor as she describes having to “fend off” the overzealous, helping the rest of us to learn from it.

Scharr, Jack May 8, 2007 on Encounter
Jack Schaar and the company he heads, Fine Art Limited of St. Louis, Missouri, were commissioned and have produced the art for all the Olympic Games since 1988. They are the “world’s largest publisher of fine art commemorating special events,” such as the “100th Anniversary of the Statue of Liberty”, the “500th Anniversary of Columbus discovering America,” the “100th Anniversary of Carnegie Hall,” and the “Fall of the Berlin Wall.” Jack has more recently produced the beautiful and powerful book, “The Art of Prophecy.” Typically each two-page spread within the work has on the right page a beautiful reproduction of great Biblical art by one of the world’s art “masters,” Old Testament prophetic Scriptures on the upper left page, in the center left page New Testament Scriptures confirming the fulfillment of those Old Testament verses, and summary information regarding the depicted Biblical art on the lower left page. This wonderful work is an absolute treasure and is great for, among other things, one’s daily “Quiet Time” with God. See www.fineartlimited.com.

Scott, Senator Delbert June 5, 2007
Missouri Senator Delbert Scott stood on the floor of the Missouri Senate and quietly but clearly told a powerful and compelling personal story. He spoke of a young lady in the early 1900’s who traveled from St. Joseph, MO to Kansas City … to give away her baby! Being young and unmarried, she shed tears as she released her little girl to a family who would love and care for her. Senator Scott went on to express his thanksgiving for the action of the young mother…who, he reported, was his great-grandmother, and the baby his grandmother. This story was told on the floor of the Missouri Senate to introduce pro-life legislation. It was passed and is to be signed by Missouri Governor Matt Blunt with the expected result of more innocent children being saved. Senator Scott’s dramatic 6-minute story can be heard and seen on video by going to (1) www.senate.mo.gov, (2) clicking on “list of members,” (3) clicking on “Delbert Scott,” then (4) clicking on “VIDEO: Senator Delbert Scott, March 28, 2007: Story of Hazel Frances Scott told on floor of the Missouri Senate.” The compelling radio conversation with Senator Scott on KSIV radio in St. Louis, MO can be heard here on www.haroldhendrick.com.

Nathan Sheets, Mike Jorgensen re IamSecond.com; Sam Bradford, Colt McCoy, Tony Dungy, others, explain

Sam Bradford was the number one “pick” in the National Football League’s 2010 draft.  That distinction goes to only one person each year.  In the “I Am Second” campaign, we see another side of Sam Bradford.  He and other well known personalities explain on video why “I am Second“ (www.iamsecond.com).

Among them are Colt McCoy, Natalie Sebastian, Michelle Aguilar, Darrell Waldurp, Victoria Childress, Tony Dungy, Mike Huckabee, Stephen Baldwin, Shannon Culpepper, Tony Evans, Pete Briscoe, Josh Hamilton, Craig Ellis, Jason Whitten, Jason Castro, Brian Welsh, Anne Rice, Joe Gibbs, Jack Graham, Ken Hutcherson, Ashley Rawls, Blake Mankin, and Colt McCoy & Sam Bradford together.

In this 12-minute radio discussion, two key leaders -- Director Nathan Sheets and Strategist Mike Jorgensen -- provide an overview of the “I Am Second” campaign and its great success as it began in the Dallas-Fort Worth area; about its expansion to other cities, and, since these featured are “second,” they remind us of who is “First!”

Mike Jorgensen reports that “…they tell their stories of placing themselves second to Christ. When we put ourselves second to Christ, we reach our potential.”

In less than a year and a half, the “I Am Second” group on Facebook has grown to 117,000.  The website has had more than 2,300,000 visits from 211 countries!

A bit of background: during his Quiet Time” of Scripture reading and prayer, Interstate Batteries owner Norm Miller was strongly impressed to make the name of Jesus better know that that of (Dallas Cowboys quarterback) Tony Romo!   Miller took his impressions of God’s leading seriously.  Thus was born the “I am Second” (www.iamsecond.com) campaign which quickly became awesomely effective.

Jorgenson observes that “… Sam Bradford has great character and is a great football player.” He urges fans of the St. Louis Rams (who selected him) to “ … enjoy rooting for Sam and the team!”  He invites us to “go to www.iamsecond.com, view the Sam Bradford video, and then share!”

Bradford’s background includes previous Missouri connections.  In 2002 and 2003 he attended Joe White’s Kanakuk Kamp (www.kanakuk.com) in Branson.

Should the “I Am Second” plan become a campaign in your area?
