Based on Jesus' Prayer in the book of John Chapter 17, Global Day of Prayer strives to:
Our purpose is to please God and begin to transform our region by encouraging His whole family to meet together in unity offering prayers and praise in the name of Jesus Christ on Pentecost Sunday and follow that by blessing our region with acts of service for others.
St Louis will join hundreds of millions of Christians who will meet all over the world in
stadiums, auditoriums and churches to pray to God the Father in the name of His Son
Jesus for personal repentance, healing, and transformation of their communities.
St. Louis Christians will meet
at St. Louis University's brand new Chaifetz Arena at 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoon to celebrate Jesus, May 31st. Everyone who accepts the essential
beliefs of Christianity as summarized in The Apostle's Creed and/or The Nicene Creed is encouraged to come.
WHAT TO EXPECT
We plan to celebrate Jesus with prayers and praise music that will include both traditional
and contemporary songs. Prayers
will include liturgical, spontaneous, congregational, small group, one on
one, singing and silent. Banners and flags will be carried by praise and
dance teams honoring God. Song lyrics and scenes from around the world will
be seen on the large video boards. The presence and power of God will be
sensed and prayer lives will be energized. There will be no speeches,
sermons, or homilies, and no one will be introduced by title or
affiliation. This will be a time when only the name of Jesus will be
lifted up.
The physically handicapped are particularly encouraged to join us including the hearing impaired,
as interpretation will be offered.
