Sometimes God works and leads through inexperience and enthusiasm more than skill and tact. That was the case with Marty Zide, a Jew, and his two roommates when students at the University of Missouri. One of the roommates was Jewish and one was not … but both had just, by faith, received Jesus into their lives as Savior and forgiver. They were full of joy at just having received Jesus but … to Jewish Marty … were plenty “offensive,” to him as they daily urged him to join them in their newfound faith.
In the University bookstore his roommates bought him a Bible and gave it to him. He read it. Also, he noticed positive changes in the lives of his friends.
In time the Spirit of God drew Marty into God’s family. He received Christ by faith and was “born again!” (John 3:3) He discovered that a Jew could become even more “Jewish” with Jesus the Messiah in his life.
Years later Marty was to return to his home in St. Louis with a focus on presenting Jesus the Messiah to his parents. The result? Joy and success!
With his passion for sharing the Messiah, he “jumped in” in the support of St. Louis’ Midwest Messianic Center and its years long leader at the time. With Marty’s being mentored … and the Center’s leader in declining health … Marty was invited, and accepted, becoming the Center’s new leader.
Marty can be heard each Saturday morning at 9:00 AM CST on St. Louis’ Bott Radio Network’s 100,000 watts, 91.5. (See www.bottradionetwork.com)
Much of his ministry is to answer questions regarding communicating the “Good News” of Jesus the Messiah … Jews and non-Jews. He emphasizes that there is a wealth of material available on their website, www.midwestmessianic.org. He also welcomes personal contacts through his email or personal calls to the Center at 636 256-0888.

[Steve’s personal testimony includes – when as a student at “Mizzou” — he heard a “street preacher” sharing the Gospel near the campus library. While some other students “made fun” of the preacher, Steve responded by saying: “That’s just what I need!” He received Christ on the spot … and later married Terri, a very fine lady who leads a great ministry in this country and in the “Horn of Africa.” See www.faith-that-works.org, a ministry that provides beautiful garments for women which can be purchased with the proceeds going to the oppressed women of Africa.]
